How to use Flagyl?

Spread the oral suspension (fluid) right before measuring a dose. Take the liquid medicine with a syringe dose, or with a special spoon for a dose or medicine cup. If you do not have a dose measuring device, ask your pharmacist to give you one.

Take this medicine with your mouth as prescribed by your doctor. To prevent stomach upset, take this medicine with food or a glass of water or whole milk. The dose is based on your medical condition and response to cure.

For best results, put this antibiotic over a suitable time interval. To help you remember, take it at the same time (s) every day. Use this medication for the duration of time. Your symptoms may be improved before the infection is completely cleared. Denying doses may increase the risk of developing more infections resistant to antibiotics. Metronidazole will not treat a viral infection like a flu or cold.

Do not give a long-term pill, do not drink, swallow it whole.

If you are exposed to vaginal infection, your spouse may need to have a Flagyl injection (even if there are no symptoms) or you have to be re-administered.

The flagyl is usually placed in a row for up to 10 days. It may be necessary to repeat this dose a few weeks later.

Metronidazole can produce abnormal results with specific medical tests. Talk to any doctor who has told you to use this medication.

Dosage of Flagyl

Continue the drug until the full amount is completed, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping a drug early may result in the infection coming back.

In the woman

One day of treatment - two grams of FLAGYL, given as a single dose or two divided doses of one gram each, given on the same day.

Seven-day treatment course - 250 mg three times a day for seven consecutive days. There are some controlled comparative studies that the recovery rate determined by vaginal ossymitis and symptoms may be higher than a one-day treatment after a seven-day treatment period.

Dosage regimen should be individual. Treatment with single dose doses may be ensured in cases where the patient can continue on a seven-day diet, especially if supervised. A seven-day course of treatment may be re-injected by protecting the patient long enough for sexual contact to receive appropriate treatment. In addition, some patients may tolerate a treatment regimen better than others.

Symptoms of over dose

Oral metronidazole has been studied as a radiation sensitizer in the treatment of malignant tumors. Neurological complications, including seizure and peripheral neuropathy, have been reported in doses ranging from 6 to 10.4 grams per day after 5 to 7 days.
