Zovirax: How to use, Side Effects, Warnings

What is Zovirax?

ZOVIRAX Cold Sore Cream contains the active ingredient acyclovir. Acyclovir belongs to a group of medicines called antivirals. They are used for treating infections caused by the Herpes simplex virus. ZOVIRAX Cold Sore Cream is used to treat cold sores on the lips and face. Cold sores are caused by Herpes simplex virus infection. ZOVIRAX Cold Sore Cream does not get rid of Herpes simplex virus infection from your body, so it cannot prevent cold sores from coming back. It does, however, reduce the severity and duration of cold sore symptoms when they appear.

Zovirax Tablets are indicated for the treatment of herpes simplex virus infections of the skin and mucous membranes including initial and recurrent genital herpes (excluding neonatal HSV and severe HSV infections in immunocompromised children).

These Tablets are indicated for the suppression (prevention of recurrences) of recurrent herpes simplex infections in immunocompetent patients.

They are also indicated for the prophylaxis of herpes simplex infections in immunocompromised patients.

Zovirax Tablets are indicated for the treatment of varicella (chickenpox) and herpes zoster (shingles) infections.
